The joining of one to another is the joining of one to the unknown and infinite, and on Thursday July 1st, Guri Grewal and Nipun Mehta will come together in a celebration of that unconditional union. On this day, they are deepening their commitment to each other's happiness, and to the continual awakening of compassion for all life.

We cordially request your presence to honor and bless the values that bring the journeys of Guri and Nipun together in this special way.

8:30AM Arrive at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery.
9:00AM Rev. Heng Sure will lead an interfaith ceremony, with blessings from Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Native American, Jewish, Sufi, Jain and Zen traditions ... interspersed with some Tibetan chanting.
11:00AM For those who are able to stay, we will depart for a 1.5 hour drive to Ukiah's CTTB, -- City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, where the streets are named Compassion Way and Mindfulness Lane, where no life has been intentionally taken in 25 years of existence, and where peacocks, birds and much wildlife are right at home with the monks, nuns and lay community.
1:00PM Reconvene at CTTB. Along with the 488 acres of meadows, orchards, and forests, we will be enjoying one of the most wholesome meals good cultivation can buy: locally-grown organic food made by chefs who are all volunteers and chant prayers while they cook!

  • What are the specifics of the wedding?
    Dressing is semi-formal, Indian or Western. Parking can be difficult in Berkeley. Lunch is optional. Your presence is the ultimate present -- no material gifts please.

  • Is this really a simple wedding?
    You tell us: no particular religion, no DJ's, no dancing, no gifts, no fancy outfits. Heck, even no planning. :)

  • Where are you going after the wedding?
    Within. :) They're still plotting their escape.
